New features on our site

Read about the latest additions to the SocialistWorker.org Web site.

SOCIALISTWORKER.ORG has added some new features to our Web site that we hope our readers will appreciate.

Last week was the premiere of the Critical Reading blog, maintained by SoocialistWorker.org contributor Phil Gasper. Phil will be combing the mainstream and alternative media for the most important articles that SW readers should see. He'll post them throughout the day at Critical Reading--both the full text and a link to where the article first appeared.

We hope this will be a helpful resource for readers who want to stay up to date on the latest news of importance for the left in our struggles for change. Expect to find everything from New York Times news articles and op-ed pieces, to a top story from Democracy Now!, to an analysis of international economic developments from the Asia Times.

Phil's latest posts will be listed in the top right corner of the SocialistWorker.org home page. Or you can bookmark the Critical Reading home page at socialistworker.org/blog/critical-reading, and check back throughout the day. If SocialistWorker.org is your first stop of the day, then Critical Reading ought to be number two.

SocialistWorker.org has also been adding new columnists.

Independent journalist Dahr Jamail is the author of several books on U.S. wars and their opponents--most recently, The Will to Resist: Soldiers Who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. His most recent column at SocialistWorker.org, "Trucking toward climate change," is an exposé of a North American energy project with potentially devastating environmental consequences.

Sherry Wolf is a well-known LGBT activist and author of Sexuality and Socialism: History, Politics and Theory of LGBT Liberation. In her latest column, "Leveling the playing field," she reviews a new book that dismantles the myths about sports and gender.

Also writing a column for SocialistWorker.org is Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, a longtime contributor to the International Socialist Review on issues of race and class. Her most recent column, "Arizona's 'Juan Crow,'" describes how racial profiling was a fact of life even before the state's latest racist law.

To get a list of contributions from these new columnists, or any of our longstanding writers like John Pilger, Sharon Smith and Dave Zirin, look for their names on the left side of the home page, and click.

We have more features planned for the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled. And in the meanwhile, we hope you like these latest additions to SocialistWorker.org.
